Get the Funk Out and wear some music on your wrist! In my quest of sourcing new suppliers I always look for originality and something I totally love. Face it, if it is not something I would wear myself the likeliness of me supplying it will be very slim. I happened to stroll across theses really neat retro recycled vinyl cuffs in my green google search and had to find out more about this company. Read more »
HEAD GAMES :: Boring Hair be Gone
In following with my web makeover I decided it was high time I had a new look myself. Anyone that knows me can recall I love to experiment with hairstyles. I have had almost every hairstyle ranging from long hair to virtually shaved and everything in between. Color is also a fun part of my style, various shades of brown, blond, caramel, black and red. I hardly have time to know what is current these days so I opted to source some latest and greatest styles from a 2010 hairstyle magazine. Usually I go after the very sharp perimeter Vidal Sassoon cuts and colors so this time I reverted back to an edgy bob focusing more on color this time. Where did I go to get this new look? Rad Recycled Skateboard Jewelry by Eco Designer Maple XO
I got a chance to catch up with Etsy’s eco jewelry designer Lindsay Jo Holmes with Maple XO who has incorporated recycling skateboards into all her designs by taking a board that has grinded a park bench, or board slid a handrail and transforming it into rad jewelry. I wanted to know a little bit more about Maple XO, so I started asking some questions… Read more »
Modern Vintage Attic Receives a Makeover by Groovy Web Design
Months in the making and Modern Vintage Attic is live with a brand new face lift. What started out with a simple header re-design quickly turned into a full blown ultra cool website by Groovy Web Design. It went from headers to business cards, banner design, trailer decals….but it did not stop there – oh no. As I proceeded with this new look I received consults and mock ups for new site layout concepts as well and did it stop there. Well not quite – now I had to get a blog lift as well; leading me right into a new logo design, letterhead re-design and banner links. Read more »

Welcoming the New Year with a “Blue Moon”
I have to admit my most favorite time of relaxation is looking out into a clear night sky filled with stars and the light shining from a full moon. This past New Year’s Eve skies were spectacular. I always use the term once in a blue moon but never really understood where that term was derived from. Read more »

Earth Day Actions To Live More Responsibly With The Environment

On Earth Day April 22, 2009 you can support a healthier environment. Earth Day evolved over a period of seven years, which started in 1962 and continually ballooned into something much bigger when the nationwide grassroots demonstration was announced to be held in the spring of 1970. This was the opportunity for the American people to express its concern about environmental issues. It was this spontaneous response that fueled the event and organized itself. By supporting Senator Gaylord Nelson’s efforts in founding Earth Day we can continue our commitment to environmental actions, reduce consumption and become leaders in sustainable behavior.

Are We Slowly Being Poisoned By Mercury Found In High Fructose Corn Syrup?
Deceptive marketing, don’t be fooled. I was astounded to recently find out that in almost half of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) tested product samples contain mercury. High Fructose is being consumed quite frequently in North America though a number of products on the market today and can also commonly be labeled as Fructose-Glucose or Glucose-Fructose in Canada. Brands such as Coca Cola, 7-Up, A & W Root Beer, Minute Maid Berry Punch, Yoplait Yogurt, Quaker Oatmeal, Nutri-Grain Cereal Bars, Heinz Tomato Ketchup are only a few of many products containing HFCS. High Fructose sweeteners are also labeled as inulin, iso-glucose, dahlia syrup, tapioca syrup, glucose syrup, corn syrup, crystalline fructose, agave syrup, and fruit fructose. High Fructose Corn Syrup has become an increasingly common ingredient; which now amounts to 40% of added sweeteners found in the North American diet. Read more »
