THRIVE: What On Earth Will It Take?

Thrive MovementTHRIVE, the moment is almost here.

On 12:01am PST on 11/11/11 THRIVE – What on Earth Will it Take?, a feature length film will be released into the world.

For more than eight years THRIVE has worked diligently to consolidate a lifetime of research into a feature film and website whose purpose is simple: To empower a more informed and leveraged movement for global transformation!

THRIVE is the culmination of our journey to seek answers to the most critical questions of our time, including:

Is it possible for humans to thrive? And if so, why aren’t we?

If nature teaches us anything it is that Life is meant to work. And like every living thing, our purpose is to thrive.

And yet, for the majority of people on the planet, life is not about thriving… It’s about surviving, just trying to hang on.

Is this really the best we can do? Did the universe labor for nearly 14 billion years only to bring forth a species that would end up as an enemy to life itself, and to its own Home?

We don’t think so.

Like so many of you, we have spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what happened – what is happening that could account for the staggering agony and deprivation on this planet.

Our research led us to places we never expected to go, revealing surprising discoveries that seemed unrelated at first, but which turned out to be crucially connected, as you’ll see.

We came across a code – a pattern in nature that’s been embedded in arts and icons throughout the centuries. We believe this code holds the key to a new source of clean, sustainable energy that could completely revolutionize the way all people live.

We came to understand how our economic system is rigged. And we found out what we can do about it.

Our journey revealed ways we can claim our power to create liberating, healthy systems everywhere on Earth!

We have realized that we are not a mistake. We are simply mistaken. We’ve been blinded to our brilliance, shorn of our strength, ignorant of our genius, unaware of our true power and magnificence.

But all of that …is about to change.

THRIVE is an unconventional documentary that lifts the veil on what’s REALLY going on in our world by following the money upstream — uncovering the global consolidation of power in nearly every aspect of our lives. Weaving together breakthroughs in science, consciousness and activism, THRIVE offers real solutions, empowering us with unprecedented and bold strategies for reclaiming our lives and our future.

We encourage you to share this worldwide event with your friends, family and colleagues by forwarding this email notifying them of THRIVE’s exciting launch on 11/11/11 in 10 languages. Like you, they won’t want to miss this!

Take charge of the change you want to see.

Color Psychology : Food and Nutrition Rainbow Color Cravings

Listen to your Mother

Colored Fruit

Color psychology is extremely important in the world of fashion and interior design for its extraordinary beauty and the effects it has on our mood and emotions.  The colors of food can also have an essential effect on our physical and emotional state.  What color of the rainbow are you craving?

“Homegrown” is the emerging new trend.   Individuals are seeking out Farmer’s markets in their local communities to purchase fresh produce and home baked goods that are not loaded with chemicals and preservatives.  We are starting to see lawns being replaced by vegetable gardens – even at the White House.  The colors of a purple egg plant, red strawberry, yellow squash and dark leafy greens deliver natural goodness and provide healing and vitalizing energy.

We are always drawn to the brightest colored fruits and vegetables when selecting produce.  The bright colors indicate the produce to be fresh and best tasting.  Scientists have proven the brightest foods to have the highest nutritional value.  When we choose specific colored foods, it can rejuvenate and bring balance to your system giving your body more energy.  Dieticians often suggest a rainbow diet.

Strawberry - Red FruitRED FOODS: support the body by increasing levels of vitality, with foods that are rich in minerals and a good source of protein. Contain nutrients such as lycopene, ellagic acid, Quercetin, and Hesperidin, to name a few. These nutrients reduce the risk of prostate cancer, lower blood pressure, reduce tumor growth and LDL cholesterol levels, scavenge harmful free-radicals, and support join tissue in arthritis cases.  Possible signs if someone has red deficiencies: lack of stamina, anemic, weak and light-headedness.

Vegetables: beat, red cabbage, radishes, red chilli peppers, red bell peppers, tomatoes, red onions
Fruit: cherries, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon,
Other Foods: nuts, meat, fish

A diet rich in lycopene, found in large quantities in cooked tomatoes, reduces a man’s risk of developing prostate cancer by 45%.

Oranges - Orange FruitORANGE FOODS: support the body by containing antioxidants, which protects us against serious diseases. It supports the reproductive system, encourages creativity and keeps us alert. Orange has excellent detoxifying properties. Possible signs if someone has orange deficiencies: stiffness in joints and problems in the reproductive organs.

Vegetables: Carrot, pumpkin, pepper, rutabaga, potato, butternut squash
Fruit: orange, apricots, peaches, persimmon, kumquats, mango
Other Foods: oats, brown rice, shellfish, egg yolk

Orange/Yellow Foods: Contain beta-carotene, zeaxanthin, flavonoids, lycopene, potassium, and vitamin C. These nutrients reduce age-related macula degeneration and the risk of prostate cancer, lower LDL cholesterol and blood pressure, promote collagen formation and healthy joints, fight harmful free radicals, encourage alkaline balance, and work with magnesium and calcium to build healthy bones.

YELLOW FOODS: support the body, by taking on the warm vibration of the sun. Most people working long hours indoors, with minimal sun exposure tend to deplete their yellow energy. Possible signs if someone has yellow deficiencies: exhaustion, restlessness, tension, poor nutrient absorption, digestive problems, lowered immunity, depression, hot flashes, inability to make decisions and poor memory.

Vegetables: Yellow pepper, squash, grains, nuts, yellow lentils
Fruit: Grapefruit, bananas, lemon, pineapple, melon
Other Foods: oil, fish, egg, butter, food rich in fatty acids

GREEN FOODS: support the body as detoxifiers.  Green foods tend to be high in vitamins and minerals.  Green vegetables contain chlorophyll, fiber, lutein, zeaxanthin, calcium, folate, vitamin C, calcium, and Beta-carotene.  The nutrients found in these vegetables reduce cancer risks, lower blood pressure and LDL cholesterol levels, normalize digestion time, support retinal health and vision, fight harmful free-radicals, and boost immune system activity.  Possible signs if someone has green deficiencies: Difficulty breathing, negative emotions and feeling of being trapped.

Vegetables: Broccoli, cabbage, kale, sprouts, peas, green beans, leeks and dark leafy vegetables
Fruit: Pears, avocados, apples, green grapes, kiwi and limes
Other Foods: most culinary herbs

Green has beneficial effects on stomach acidity and blood pressure. If you are under great stress, you may need green- energy food.

Blueberries - Blue FruitBLUE & VIOLET FOODS: support the body with antioxidants; they support communication skills, glands and organs of the neck; blue & violet energy.  Contain nutrients which include lutein, zeaxanthin, resveratrol, vitamin C, fiber, flavonoids, ellagic acid, and quercetin.  Similar to the previous nutrients, these nutrients support retinal health, lower LDL cholesterol, boost immune system activity, support healthy digestion, improve calcium and other mineral absorption, fight inflammation, reduce tumor growth, act as an anticarcinogens in the digestive tract, and limit the activity of cancer cells.   Possible signs if someone has blue & violet deficiencies: inability to relax or sleep, respiratory problems or feeling confused.

EAT BLUE-INDIGO:  Indigo foods are often good sources of Vitamin K and lycopene.
Vegetables: Black soybeans, black beans
Fruit: Black berries, black currants, bilberries, blueberries, black cherries, prunes, plums

EAT BLUE-VIOLET:  Violet foods are rich in vitamin D.
Vegetables: Oats, eggplant, shell fish, red cabbage, beats, purple onion, purple carrots, purple potatoes, purple cabbage, purple asparagus
Fruit: Figs, dates, purple plums, purple grapes, passion fruit, mulberries
Other Foods: Kelp and all seaweed products

WHITE FOODS:  Contain nutrients such as beta-glucans, EGCG, SDG, and lignans that provide powerful immune boosting activity. These nutrients also activate natural killer B and T cells, reduce the risk of colon, breast, and prostate cancers, and balance hormone levels, reducing the risk of hormone-related cancers.  White is associated with the top of the color spectrum (crown chakra) and, in Asian medicine, with strengthening to the lungs and large intestines. White foods are often rich in sulfur and quercetin.

Vegetables: Cauliflower, white beans, white corn , white eggplant , white onions , white radishes , white tomatoes, turnip, mushrooms,
Fruit: Coconut, bananas, brown pears
Other Foods:  Quinoa, white sesame seeds

BLACK FOODS:  Black foods are associated with the kidneys and bladder in Asian medicine.  Foods that are black in color are usually rich in minerals.

Vegetables: Black beans , black flax seed, seaweeds, wild rice
Other: Black sesame seeds, black quinoa

Bottom Line: Eat your fruits and vegetables – grow your own or support your local markets to get the best selection and tasting produce.

Eco Living: Green is the New Black in Eco Fashion

Eco living is advocated to be an essential part of our daily lives, so why not incorporate this lifestyle into our closets as well!  Eco-Fashion is a growing industry in the world of fashion and couture making the average customer aware of eco trends.

On average Americans generate 11.8 million tons of textile waste every year.  What is the solution? If we can maximize the lifespan of clothing by donating clothes, purchasing clothes and textiles made from upcycled materials or buying organic, natural and sustainable fabrics we can extend the life of our clothing pieces and reduce the amount of waste that enters the landfills.

Organic CottonAs individuals become educated on the benefits of organic and sustainable clothing; awareness will take precedence as the green community gains greater support.  Organic and  friendly products still remain more expensive because the cost to harvest and manufacture these products is higher.  Typically when we pay more money for particular items we have an expectation that we have not only paid for brand name but for the quality of the goods themselves.  Organic clothing has a much longer lifespan than conventional clothing as they were not harvested and manufactured with conventional chemicals.  The fabric is softer and reduces skin sensitivity.   Have you ever noticed how many times small holes just randomly appear in conventional cotton clothing?

It is my intention to bring awareness within the green community not only on eco clothing and eco fashion accessories but to attain a greater sense of how to live an eco lifestyle.

STILL Time to Raise the Bar: HERSEY

Posted on Thursday, September 15th, 2011 in Social Responsibility

As another Halloween approaches and parents think about buying chocolate as “treats” for children, here is something to consider: The chocolate you buy could be tainted with child labor.

Monday, September 19th marks the ten-year anniversary of the signing of the Harkin-Engel Protocol — an agreement by the country’s largest chocolate companies to put an end to forced child labor on cocoa farms in West Africa by 2005.

Ten years later, not enough progress has been made.  Hundreds of thousands of children are still forced to work under abusive conditions for long hours on cocoa farms in West Africa, while others are victims of trafficking and forced labor.

The largest chocolate manufacturer in the United States, Hershey, lags behind its competitors in eliminating these abuses from its cocoa supply chain. What’s more, news recently surfaced that Hershey has been exploiting student guestworkers here in the US in one of its packing facilities.

Some of Hershey’s competitors, including Mars and Nestle, have committed to start sourcing cocoa that is independently certified to comply with labor rights standards.

I urge Hershey — the most iconic chocolate company in the US — to protect workers from bean to bar and certify its chocolate as Fair Trade, ensuring that forced child labor is removed from its chocolate bars, its kisses, and its peanut butter cups.

In the meantime, I’ll be handing out Fair Trade Certified™ chocolate to my trick-or-treaters this Halloween and I encourage others to do the same.

Other companies have read Green America’s original report on Hershey’s practices and have increased their commitment to Fair Trade – but still no commitment from Hershey.

In the second alternative corporate social responsibility report for the Hershey Company: STILL Time to Raise the Bar: The REAL CSR report for The Hershey Company [PDF]. This report highlights Hershey’s ongoing failure to trace its supply chain and stop child labor.  Hershey is the laggard in the industry – being the only major chocolate company that has failed to adopt ANY third party certifications for its cocoa.

Please assist Green America’s campaign to bring awareness within your community.

Do you believe that everyone can achieve everything they could ever desire?  Well most of the population would tend to disagree with that statement because most of us are not lucky enough to have everything we could ever want…health, relationships, career or financial freedom but we can and it is the methodology of how we think.  It is the Universal laws that govern your time-space-reality and allow each one of us to create our own outcome with the flow of energy.

Spring has finally arrived and it is so nice to see the mountains of snow finally starting to disappear that I decided I should start exercising.  Now anyone that knows me well enough knows that I am not the most active person out there by any stretch.  I read the book Ask and It is Given which highly motivated me to change the way I think and one of my desires was to loose a few pounds for the summer.  I decided to take the plunge and start working on some of the techniques aided in the book, and viola I was introduced to my new goal.  It is a 90 day challenge to put you on the right track to a healthier lifestyle so whether you are interested in just maintaining your current weight, losing 10-20 lbs, 20 + pounds, or converting some body fat to toning and muscle building they have it all.   I am not a large person and don’t require losing a bunch of weight so my desire was to really concentrate on muscle tone and loss of body fat.  I got so excited about this new adventure I am about to embark on I decided that I want to run a challenge and get more people involved to make this a really great experience and positive one for everyone involved.  So I thought – what would be more fun than creating a few teams of individuals and run a competition.  The person to succeed with the greatest achievement on each team would get their pick of any item on the MVA website for free as their personal reward.  I definitely want to run a Calgary vs. Edmonton team competition and would like minimum 3 individuals per team so everyone can encourage each other.  As for anyone else that thinks they would like to give this challenge a whirl I would love to create more teams if the interest is there.  How do I know if the challenge works, well I have seen it first hand and have been so excited for my sister of whom I’m sure will have no problem reaching her short term goal of 20 pounds in a month’s time.  If you can regain dietary control of problem foods and improve your health that is worth it in itself!  I would like to have teams in line within the next week so, please let me know if you are interested and would like more details.

Some people may have said well I’ve tried everything under the sun and nothing works for me.  Why is that, why does nothing seem to work?  After several attempts of fad diets, weight watchers and everything else that is out there under the sun the results just don’t always seem to take form.  However, some people do see results at a much faster rate, why?  Does it have to have anything to do with the way we think?  If we could all use the Law of Attraction to think and focus on the positive aspects we will attract this to ourselves.  I would suggest trying a few techniques out just to test the theory for yourself, you will need to have a pen and paper on hand.  Here are some examples of techniques I have recently learned.  On a piece of paper title it MY BODY.  Below that start to write This is what I desire regarding my body. You only need to write a short list of things you desire that come easily to your mind that you desire.  Under each statement of desire about your body write the reasons why you want each of those things.

I want to return to my ideal body weight.   …because I feel best when I’m that weight.   …because I’ll be able to shop for new clothes.

I want to feel strong and fit.    …because I love having energy to do all the things I want to do.   …because it feels good.

This exercise will assist in focusing on the most important issues to you regarding your body.  When you focus your energy on these statements of desire you activate this energy and the positive flow of energy.  The Universe will deliver to you the vibrational essence of your every desire as long as you do not offer resistance to the flow of energy.

I seem to know what I don’t want more often than what I do want.  I am really working on trying to develop the things that I really do want.  If we can refocus negative emotion towards things we don’t want and redirect it to a positive thought or something that feels slightly better, then you will have successfully just raised your vibratory rate.  So maybe you might think I feel fat, and I want to feel slender and you start by telling yourself I want to be slender again.  This might be a stretch for achieving your desire because maybe in the back of your mind you are really thinking this is a bit of a reach and it is unlikely you will succeed causing negative thoughts.  Rather, start your focus on things that revolve around that statement in items that you know you believe and make you feel better.  For example  I’ll find something that will work for me, my body will feel more refreshed, new ideas will come to me, or I like taking control of my own experience.

These are just a couple examples of how to change your thinking habits and help develop positive energy flow.  I have come to the conclusion that my approach on several aspects of my life have not been in line with the Universal Laws of Attraction and I am going to practice, practice and practice to become more conscious of my thoughts and divert some of the negative to positive energy change.  The book Ask and It Is Given is a great read and will influence your thought process.

Join me in the 90 Day Challenge and see if it has a positive impact for you.  I’m extremely excited to get under way and can’t wait to see the results for myself.

HEAD GAMES :: Boring Hair be Gone

Posted on Sunday, February 14th, 2010 in 2010 Events, Hairstyle Events

In following with my web makeover I decided it was high time I had a new look myself.  Anyone that knows me can recall I love to experiment with hairstyles.  I have had almost every hairstyle ranging from long hair to virtually shaved and everything in between.  Color is also a fun part of my style, various shades of brown, blond, caramel, black and red.  I hardly have time to know what is current these days so I opted to source some latest and greatest styles from a 2010 hairstyle magazine.  Usually I go after the very sharp perimeter Vidal Sassoon cuts and colors so this time I reverted back to an edgy bob focusing more on color this time.  Where did I go to get this new look?
